PLACE: THE SIZZLER, 1401 N. HARBOR BLVD.
January Program.
The Fullerton Fire Department
Paramedics will demonstrate the service and delivery they provide to
Fullerton residents.
Battalion Chief Gary Dominguez and
four firefighters will show us what happens on an emergency medical response.
We will also be honoring members for continuous membership in the Legion.
If your name is on the list below in the Commander’s Corner,
we will treat you to dinner.
You must RSVP to the Legion phone at (714) 871-2412 by Monday, January
11. Hope to see you there.
Commander’s Club.
We are seeking at least one
additional member. December is the
last month for a 2009 tax deduction. If you, or someone you know is interested,
contact Ed Paul at (714) 992-1816.
It is the Commander’s Club support that allows us to provide the
Veterans Day Parade, Boys and Girls State, School Scholarships and helps with
Memorial Day.
Chaplain’s
Message to the Members: “You
will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts
in You.” (Isaiah 26:3-4, NAS translation)
If I can be of service to you, please give me a call.
Jim Howland (Hal Dixon is
wintering in Texas)
Commander’s Corner:
Happy New Year! We had a busy
and fun December. To start the
month, we gathered at the Hillcrest Park Memorial to remember
Pearl Harbor Day.
Thank you, Mayor Don Bankhead,
Jim Howland, and Jeff Harris for helping me with the service.
I would be remiss if I did not say congratulations to
Don Bankhead on his re-election to
Mayor.
Congratulations Mayor Bankhead!
Next came our meeting where carolers from
Sunny Hills High School entertained
us with beautiful songs. Thank you,
George Miller, for arranging for them again.
Even though the director is retiring, we are already on their calendar
for next year. If you haven’t heard
them sing yet, they are really something!
Our 2nd Annual Christmas Party
was on the 19th. We had a
great time! I hope that you will put
aside some time to come to our 3rd
next year.
Ambra and
Rich Wakefield, along with
Ellen did a great job planning and
executing. Thank you.
Thank you also to George Miller for coordinating and sponsoring our group at the
condominium. Soon we will begin with
the selections of Boys and Girls State,
and Youth Environmental Leadership Conference participants.
I continue to input to the District at their meetings.
We are collectively going to send up a Resolution that asks for a change
to the Legion By-Laws that will allow
all veterans to belong to
the Legion, not just those who served in combat timelines.
It makes even more sense since the current timeline was opened in 1990
and never closed by Congress. Thank
you to Ed Paul,
Larry Sears, and Richard
Wakefield for your extra efforts throughout the month handling membership
issues. Just a reminder…make sure
that your Discharge papers are in the hands of your loved ones.
They need them to bury you will military honors.
I hope your New Year is full of exciting and wonderful experiences.
Come spend some time with us at the meetings…George
always has great speakers for us!
Membership drive for 2010 is ongoing.
There are huge delays at the Department and National levels.
Please do not pay a second time if
you have a 2010 card in your hand.
Call one of us to check if you are concerned.
Continuous Membership Certificates:
At January’s meeting we will pass out certificates to the following
members. (The certificates are
awarded in five year increments.
Please try to come if possible so that we can honor you for your continued
service to both the Legion and our Nation
and we will treat you to dinner.
If you cannot attend we will send it in the mail to you, the certificate,
not the dinner.) 5 Years:

The performance was beautiful.
This will by Ron’s final performance as he is retiring this year.
He will be missed.
