September 2009 NEWSLETTER
PLACE: THE SIZZLER,
PROGRAM: Fullerton School
Superintendent/Boys/Girls State
Our September program will begin with our annual tribute to
POW/MIA’s followed by our
Boys and Girls State and YEC
participants. The POW/MIA ceremony is a brief but very moving ceremony that
reminds us of our comrades and their families who still suffer from the loss and
uncertainty of their loved ones. This
meeting will also feature Fullerton School Superintendent
George Giokaris and the high school advisors.
Chaplain’s Message to the Members:
“And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that
God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in darkness, we
lie and do not practice the truth;” (I John 1:5-6, NAS translation)
Hal has headed to Texas for the winter.
If I can be of service to you, please give me a call.

This month we transferred John M. Miller
(Max) to Post Everlasting
Commander’s Corner:
This week (August 18th) our kids that went to Boys and Girls State
were recognized by the City Council and Mayor Bankhead.
It was very nice and you can see it on the City webpage in the
“Presentation” section of the meeting.
For this next meeting, we will be hosting our special events kids
(YEC, Boys and Girls State).
I hope that you will come to meet them.
Also invited are our school contacts and the high school superintendent.
Well, summer is almost over.
School will start very soon.
Planning for Veterans Day is on tract.
We have our guest speaker set.
His name is Michael Mattis and
he is a hometown hero. More on that
later. The first set of membership
cards have been sent out. We do not
send out the renewals so I don’t know what schedule they will follow this year.
Remember to pay by mid-November in order to keep your magazine
subscription uninterrupted. If you
get another notice and you already have a 2010 card, do not pay again.
The system will eventually catch up with itself.
The 2010 year began 1 July. If you
have not paid your 2009 dues, you need to send it in ASAP.
If you pay for 2010 without paying for 2009, your Continuous Years will
start at one (1)
year again.
For those with internet access at home or at the city library, all of our
